MARKUS NICK
WEST CANADA & THE CANADIAN ROCKIES

The evening before, I had agreed to give a lift to Jasper to two persons from my room: Marie and Jean-Guy. Marie definitely wanted to see Moraine Lake and this was a good reason for going there, again ;-)

At Bow Lake, we went to the Bow Glacier Falls along the lakeshore (an easy hike) [1,4]. The most "exciting" thing to do was a very short and easy "scramble" on the rocks besides the falls.

The viewpoint at Bow Summit (approx. 2100m) provides the picture postcard view on Peyto Lake. The lake shows the typical turquoise color of a glacier-fed lake.

Parker Ridge is an easy hike as well [1,4]. At the top, you get a view on the Saskatchewan Glacier. We chose the way to the "wrong" top, so the view was not as good as from the other viewpoint(s)...

Athabasca Glacier was also in summer a fXXXing cold and windy place (compared to October 99) - not very surprising, though.

We had dinner in Jasper townsite at Pizza Place (main street): very good wood-oven baked pizza - delicious! And, somehow, we found THE pub in town where we ran into some other folks who we had met at Lake Louise 2 days before. Later, a wedding party entered the pub and offered cake to everybody. Not too bad... ;-)
